AdSense for search is companion to the regular AdSense program the best known ad serving application run by Google. This is also a free solution from Google Adsense.This allows publishers to place a search box on their site and earn revenue from relevant ads on the search results page.If you have AdSense for search box on your site, it will generate earnings from ad clicks made by users on the search results pages (SERP).

You can Choose whether you want users to search your site, a collection of sites, or the web.Also you can provide Optional Keywords,Site language
,site encoding ,Country or territory for Google domain etc.You can also set it as SafeSearch and then sites and web pages containing adult themed and explicit sexual content are excluded from web search results.

AdSense for Search Optimization Tips

1. Location of search boxes.

Always the search boxes should be in easy-to-find locations.The placement of your search boxes should be consistent across all your pages. Normally In my experiance the Search Box which is placed on the right side will have more visibility.
If your SERP is inside your site itself then you can place a Search Box in the result page also.

2. Size of the Search box

Very small Search box will be less visible and very big one will occupy more space.

3. Number of Search Boxes.

Google Allows you to place two Search Boxes on each page.So the better position would be one on top and other one just below your blog article. This will give the reader a choice to do the search without scrolling up or down.

4. Search results on your own site.

You can set this feature when you configure the Adsense for Search. In the Adsense for Search Setup page you can provide the URL where search results will be displayed. When you display AdSense for search results within your site, the results of a user search performed in your AdSense for search box will appear within a frame on your own page.

5. Customize the search results pages

You can always choose different layouts and colors for the Search Result Page so that it looks attractive to the reader.

6. Create custom channels for each search box.

It is a very good idea to create different custom channels for search boxes.This will help you to track and compare the performance of each search box using the channels.
