The Disk Cleanup tool is useful in removing temporary Internet files,removing downloaded program files ,removing Windows temporary files such as error reports,remove unused restore points etc.
How to use Disk Cleanup tool?
Click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, click System Tools, then click Disk Cleanup.
Disk Cleanup has calculate how much space you can free in C drive normally(If several drives are available, you might be prompted to specify which drive you want to clean).
After calculating the maximum space it can free up ,the tool will pop up a window as shown below (This is in windows XP).you can select the areas you want.
