ICANN New Top Level Domain Names- When to apply and what is the registration fee?
But wait for a moment before heading straight away to think about a fancy domain name for you. Achieving your favourite domain name may not be an easy task. You need to wait till next year to apply for that and also the fee for registering and to maintain that custom domain will be expensive and individuals may find it difficult to manage.
Applications for new gTLDs will be accepted from 12 January 2012 to 12 April 2012 and first batch of new gTLDs will be operational by the end of 2012. Some sources says that the initial price to apply for a new gTLD suffix will be $185,000, with an annual fee of $25,000.
SO basically ICANN targets corporate customers and this new revolutionary change will allow corporations to better take control of their brands. Companies and organizations will be able to choose essentially arbitrary suffixes for their internet domain names.
