You have designed a great blog with lots of images and stuff, but your Google Analytics reports disappointed you totally by showing a high bounce rate. In the Google Analytics reports your blog has an average bounce rate of 80%. What does that mean? It means that 80% of the users coming to your site are quickly glancing around and leaving. The reasons for this can be many.
Your landing page creates such an impression that the readers decide immediately that this site isn’t the one what they are looking for. In fact there are lot of junk websites out around those are meant for making page impressions and quick money online without quality content.
One catchy and effective headline can persuade the visitor to go through the post you have written. So how do we write effective headlines that will draw in user attention?
Include the keyword in the headline
Do a research on keywords related to your blog post. There are many such tools available. You can use Google Adwords Keyword tool effectively. Judge the popularity and competition and find out the optimum keyword that can be used in your post.
Include the keyword to the beginning of the headline. Never stuff all the keywords into your headline. This is very important. one or two primary keywords can be added as part of the headline.
Present headline in an effective way
The headlines should be attractive. It should not read like any other ordinary stuff. After reading the headline user should get an impression that there are some information in the post.
Suppose you have written a post about weight reduction methods. You can write the headline as
“Weight reduction methods to see difference” .
But see it reminds you some of the common headlines read some where or used by some advertising agencies. Your reader will quickly ignore this.
Instead if your write,
” 7 effective ways to reduce your weight“.
Make headlines short
One quick glance on the headline should reveal what it represents. Short and effective headlines always stop eyes those are looking for something particular. So make headlines short and effective. Take our previous example. You can write the headline as
” Effective weight reduction methods that yield results in a weeks’ time”
or as
” 7 ways to reduce your weight 7 days“.
Use sub headings
This is very important. You should have one <h1>heading and one or more <h2> headings in your post. Search engines gives more importance to headings. Use subheadings using your secondary keywords. This will not only helps you to categorize your content but also helps in readability and effectiveness.
